Berit Elam is a litigation attorney in Buchalter’s Sacramento office. Ms. Elam represents clients in a wide variety of commercial and business litigation matters, including misappropriation of trade secrets, employee mobility disputes, unfair competition, and employee non-solicitation covenants and non-disclosure agreements.

Ms. Elam also has a significant background in construction litigation where she has represented general and sub-contractors in matters arising from public and private projects including civil, transportation, and commercial construction projects.

Ms. Elam’s practice includes political law, where she represents clients in reporting and regulatory matters around campaign finance and lobbying, as well as election law.

In addition to her civil litigation practice, Ms. Elam has considerable experience with white collar criminal defense, having represented many individuals facing government investigations and criminal allegations ranging from mail and wire fraud to perjury and bribery.

Ms. Elam has been named one of Super Lawyers Magazine’s Northern California “Rising Stars” from 2021-2024.

Berit received her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, order of the coif, where she was the Senior Articles Editor for the UC Davis Business Law Journal. During law school, Berit served on the Moot Court Honors Board and advanced to the final round of the National Appellate Advocacy Competition after winning the regional competition. She also served as an extern for Judge Allison Claire of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. Berit received her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Southern California.
