Khaled Tarazi is a Senior Counsel in Buchalter’s Scottsdale office and a member of the Insolvency & Financial Law practice group. Mr. Tarazi focuses his practice on distressed business situations, including non-bankruptcy workouts and Chapter 11 restructurings. He has extensive experience serving as counsel for distressed companies, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, landlords, leaseholders, and commercial debtors in loan workouts and bankruptcy matters.

Mr. Tarazi was named by the Best Lawyers in America to the “Ones to Watch” list, for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, 2021 – 2025, and named to Arizona Super Lawyers 2022 & 2023.

 

  • Collateral agent and secured lender’s counsel in chapter 7 bankruptcy filings of Pacific/Arclight Theatres.
  • Collateral agent and secured lender’s counsel in restructuring of $150MM syndicated revolving credit facility secured by real and personal property of theater chain.
  • Lender’s counsel in workouts of numerous loans to middle-market companies secured by real and personal property in a variety of industries, including agriculture, retail, transportation, hospitality, entertainment, and real estate development.
  • Counsel to Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Easterday Farms in jointly administered cases of Easterday Ranches and Easterday Farms involving disputes over sale and allocation of value of over $200MM in assets.
  • Counsel to litigation trustee in connection with post-confirmation litigation and collection activities resulting in collection of over $9.5MM to the creditor trust.
  • Counsel to debtor in chapter 11 filing of Loot Crate.
  • Counsel to senior secured lender in bankruptcy claim objection trial based on novel default interest issue.
  • Counsel to numerous individual and commercial chapter 11 debtors, routinely confirming chapter 11 plans of reorganization.
  • Counsel to stalking horse bidder in successful purchase of assets in chapter 11 case of medical services company.
  • Counsel to receiver in winding up entity, negotiating and closing sales of substantially all receivership assets, and litigating numerous post-closing issues.

Mr. Tarazi earned his J.D. magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. He also received the American College of Bankruptcy’s Distinguished Bankruptcy Law Student Award for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Tarazi earned his B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University.
