Samuel D. Sazer is an Attorney in the Firm’s San Francisco office and a member of the Litigation practice group. Mr. Sazer’s practice focuses on complex business and commercial litigation, with particular experience in trademark, trade secret, real estate, antitrust, and copyright matters. He has prevailed for clients in state and federal courts across the country, in addition to favorably resolving numerous disputes outside of court. Before joining Buchalter, Mr. Sazer practiced at two international law firms on behalf of multiple Fortune 500 companies and other prominent firms.

Trademark

  • Obtained summary judgment on all claims in an action for trademark infringement brought by a provider of cybersecurity services.
  • Successfully appealed the denial of an application for trademark registration sought by a provider of waste removal services.
  • Negotiated the dismissal of a petition to cancel a registered trademark.
  • Secured the removal of infringing websites on behalf of numerous trademark rightsholders.

Trade Secret and Antitrust

  • Represented a manufacturer of electron microscopes in a trade secrets dispute with counterclaims for antitrust violations.
  • Represented a manufacturer of heating appliances in a trade secrets dispute involving claims of anticompetitive conduct.

Complex Commercial

  • Represented a leading hardware and software developer in an action for copyright infringement.
  • Obtained an arbitration award of more than $1 million, including attorneys’ fees, in an action by a consulting firm against a former client.
  • Successfully defended a biofuels producer in a breach of contract dispute following a failed merger and obtained an award of attorneys’ fees.
  • Represented a health information technology firm in an action for breach of contract, fraud, and other claims.

Mr. Sazer earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, from which he graduated as a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Sazer was the winner of the annual Roscoe Pound moot court competition, as well as the awards for highest grade in Torts, Evidence, Business Torts, and Constitutional Law II. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University.
