Zaven A. Sargsian has years of experience representing companies and individuals in complex litigation matters at both the trial and appellate level, in federal and state courts, with particular experience handling complex business disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, receiverships, breach of contract, fraud and other business torts. Zaven also has experience litigating intellectual property claims, including copyright infringement. In addition, Zaven regularly represents clients in complex real estate litigation, including property-related contract disputes, lien priority, and enforcement of security interests. He also represents businesses that are denied coverage by insurers, as well as bad faith litigation and breach of the duty to defend and indemnify.
In addition to his litigation practice, Zaven advises clients regarding their data security and privacy obligations, copyright licensing and generative artificial intelligence issue, online business reputation and the Communications Decency Act section 230. He also serves as outside general counsel to startups, and advises and assists them in various matters, including terms of service, privacy, and contracting with vendors and businesses.
Zaven maintains a First Amendment practice. He is a cooperating attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation and has significant experience prosecuting and defending against defamation claims, including bringing anti-SLAPP motions, as well as advising clients related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and State open records acts.
