“Matthew Seror, a shareholder and copyright litigator at [Buchalter, APC] not involved in the case, said it’s only a few particular groups bringing most of these kinds of claims.
He said the lawsuits are tailored to encourage a quick settlement as the low dollar amount at stake in these types of cases tends to make the filings more of a “volume play.”
‘In effective, insofar as it gets the defendants’ attention, and I’ve been following a lot of these. Each individual one, they all resulted in settlement,’ Seror said.”
