Buchalter, a business law firm with offices on the West Coast, now has a presence in downtown Sacramento.
A new office that opened this month employs 10 lawyers, seven of whom are new to the firm.
Three of those lawyers come from Downey Brand LLP, the Sacramento area’s largest law firm. James K. Dyer, a former partner at Downey Brand, joined Buchalter as managing shareholder of the new office. Also, Anna Crivelli and Weston Rockers joined Buchalter as associates formerly with Downey Brand.
“Buchalter is very well-established in the California market, and I’m excited for the opportunity to deepen that footprint and lead the new team as we counsel Sacramento and other Central Valley businesses on some of the most pressing corporate, finance and real estate matters,” Dyer said in a news release. “In addition to the leadership opportunity, I was drawn to Buchalter because of its entrepreneurial-like culture. It is unique in today’s law firm market.”
Buchalter’s other new lawyers come from the California Power Law Group. They are Gwenn O’Hara, Valerie Collanton, Meghan Cox and Ann Springgate. O’Hara, the former founding partner of California Power Law Group, will chair Buchalter’s new firmwide Energy & Natural Resources Group.
“We’ve been looking at Sacramento for a number of years,” Adam J. Bass, Buchalter’s president and CEO, said in a Tuesday interview. He expects Buchalter will add more lawyers to its local office. The firm is “in discussions with some really, really talented lawyers in Sacramento right now,” according to Bass, who is based in Los Angeles.
Buchalter’s local office is at 500 Capitol Mall, suite 1900. The firm employs more than 200 lawyers across its six offices, which are in Sacramento, Los Angeles, Irvine, San Francisco, St. Helena and Scottsdale, Arizona.
