10 July, 2024 – Buchalter is pleased to announce the additions of Dylan Metzner in the Firm’s Denver office, along with Amber Arias, Laura Chartrand, and Albert Sahlstrom. Metzner joins as a Shareholder specializing in Tax Planning and Estate matters. Arias joins Buchalter’s Family Law practice group, Chartrand’s practice concentrates on natural resources matters representing clients in various industries, including agriculture, and oil and gas, and Sahlstrom’s practice focuses on both Commercial and Trust and Estate Litigation.

Metzner brings extensive experience and a client-centric approach to his practice. He specializes in advising individuals with High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) estates, corporate executives, closely held business owners, and professionals. He is dedicated to creating value and delivering successful outcomes for his clients, guiding them through the complexities of tax, estate, and wealth planning with precision and care.
Metzner’s expertise extends to advising clients on tax-advantaged entity structures, business planning issues, and representing family members, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries in estate and trust-related disputes. He is recognized for his ability to craft customized estate plans that align with each client’s unique goals and values, ensuring efficient wealth transfer and minimizing tax implications. Furthermore, Metzner is a recognized leader in Colorado’s estate planning community and was recently elected Chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Trust and Estate Section for the 2024-2025 session.

Arias’ practice includes a diverse caseload of pre- and post-decree divorce matters involving high-net-worth individuals. Ms. Arias has over a decade of experience working in the legal field which provides her an adept ability to identify practical solutions to complex problems throughout a client’s case. Ms. Arias utilizes her strategic prowess and meticulous attention to detail to help clients navigate complex financial and emotional landscapes with finesse to obtain the best possible result in each case.
Chartrand has nearly two decades of experience representing business owners, agricultural interests, trade associations, elected officials, and government agencies in natural resource matters. She is the former Regional Solicitor of the Rocky Mountain Region with the U.S. Department of Interior. She also served as a Deputy Attorney General for the Natural Resources and Environment Section with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. Her state and federal government experience includes directing litigation and providing general counsel advice for the agencies within the U.S. Department of Interior and Colorado Department of Natural Resources and the environmental divisions of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Sahlstrom is a seasoned litigator whose practice focuses on representing businesses and individuals in complex commercial litigation and trusts and estates litigation. He has extensive experience as a trial advocate who has spent significant time on the record in court, first-chairing hearings and trials, examining witnesses, selecting juries, and delivering oral arguments. He has been counsel on more than 25 jury trials, in addition to conducting bench trials and arbitration trials. He has experience advocating for his clients in numerous communities and jurisdictions along the Front Range, across Colorado, and across the country.
