02 April, 2024. Buchalter is pleased welcome new Shareholders Brent Baker and Antonio “Tony” Mejia along with Payton Bednarek and Tucker Levis to its Salt Lake City office. Baker joins from Parsons Behle & Latimer, while Mejia and Bednarek join from Kirton McConkie. The firm’s Salt Lake City office opened in 2021, and has quickly and steadily grown to over 30 attorneys and 12 paralegals and support personnel.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Brent, Tony, Payton, and Tucker to the firm,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “Their extensive backgrounds and proven track records in their respective practice areas will further solidify our position as a premier legal services provider in the Salt Lake Region.”
Baker joins the firm as a Shareholder in the Litigation and White Collar practice groups. With over a decade of service at the SEC, Baker offers unparalleled insight into SEC enforcement and regulatory defense, private securities litigation, and government/independent investigations. His tenure at the SEC, coupled with his subsequent roles in private practice and as in-house counsel for a NASDAQ listed public company, positions him to provide strategic counsel to global companies, board committees, executives, and registered entities facing high-profile and complex legal challenges.
“Buchalter has a deep bench of talented attorneys and a reputation for commitment to quality legal services particularly in the White Collar sector,” said Baker. “The opportunity to join the firm is the ideal next phase in advancing my practice and ensuring optimal outcomes for my clients.”
“Our White Collar group has put down solid roots since we launched the practice two years ago,” said Joshua Robbins, Co-Chair of the Firm’s White Collar and Investigations Practice. “Brent’s proven track record will add tremendous value as we continue to grow.”
Mejia joins as a Shareholder in the Corporate practice group. He specializes his practice in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and business law.
“I am thrilled to join Buchalter,” added Mejia. “I was drawn to the firm’s forward-thinking approach and the firm’s extensive subject matter experts in various disciplines which will help support my corporate and business clients.”
Buchalter’s Salt Lake City office Corporate practice reflects a busy national, middle-market deal practice with particular strength in representing founders, owners and executives in mergers, acquisitions, equity and debt financings, and other sophisticated strategic transactions.
The Practice is led by Shareholder Lance Lehnhof, who added, “The addition of Tony’s extensive corporate experience to our team strengthens our legal offerings and complements our existing practice perfectly. We are looking forward to the valuable contributions Tony, Brent, Payton, and Tucker will make.”
Bednarek also joins the firm’s corporate group, adding further depth to the team’s capabilities in Salt Lake City. Levis joins the Litigation practice group with a focus on defending insurers, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems.
“Brent, Tony, Payton, and Tucker will be impressive assets to our growing Salt Lake City office,” said Jed Burton, Salt Lake City Office Managing Shareholder. “We are excited for the future, and anticipate further expansion and additional lateral hires this year.”
